The 14 x 20 Small buckwheat hull pillow is the traditional Japanese buckwheat pillow size and a great choice for sleepers who want a compact, supportive pillow. It is smaller than a conventional pillow, but most people don't use the full width of a standard pillow anyway. This size gives you focused support without extra bulk.
We recommend 4 pounds of hulls for most people. You can adjust the height at home by adding or removing hulls through the convenient zipper. Because this pillow holds a maximum of 6 pounds of hulls, even small changes in fill are noticeable.

Buckwheat hulls shift under your head, but because this pillow is compact, the hulls don't move very far during the night. Once they settle into place, your head stays at a consistent height until morning.
This size is ideal for people with narrow shoulders or a smaller head, or anyone who prefers a lower profile pillow. If you want extra height, you can place a thin conventional pillow or a folded towel underneath your buckwheat pillow to raise it up, or put it on top to add some softness.
